History:

The Challenge Team, begun in 1987, was a response to the challenge presented to communities in our state by the California State Attorney General’s office.  Our local team attended a conference sponsored by the Attorney General inspired to support and create programs oriented to help our youth make positive decisions and live healthy lives.  Now, as then, our youth face challenges including violence, diversity, and substance abuse.  The team addresses prevention of alcohol, tobacco and other drug-related problems in our local communities.

Mission:

Our Challenge Team is a community-based, non-profit partner of students, school districts, police departments, community organizations, parent groups and health service groups collaborating to prevent alcohol, tobacco and other drug-related problems in our community.

Goals and Activities:

Our Challenge Team supports local sports camps, activities designed specifically for youth at risk, Truancy and Court activities and other projects involving elementary, middle, and high school aged youth from our local public and private schools in the cities of Mountain View, Los Altos, and Los Altos Hills.  We believe that working together we can make a difference for our youth of today and for the health and productivity of our community’s future.
